This department, headed by Mrs Lungelo Gcabashe, aspires to be a value adding department in providing basic service delivery infrastructure such as public works services roads (rural & urban) and social community services, project management services and electrical services.
It also responds to the constitutional mandate of âprovision of services to communities in a sustainable manner and promotion of a safe and healthy environmentâ

This department has these components:

1.CIVIL ENGINEERING / PROJECT MANAGEMENT UNIT (PMU) FUNCTIONS
âĶÂ Project manage municipal infrastructure grant (MIG) funding and other infrastructure related projects,
âĶÂ Co-ordinate project identification up to approval and listing on the integrated development programme (IDP),
âĶÂ Ensure that project related capacity building and developments are met,
âĶÂ Ensure the supporting infrastructure master plans pertaining the maintenance of municipal, infrastructure assets are implemented accordingly,
âĶÂ Quality management of all projects,
âĶÂ Managing the monitoring database and preparing all necessary reports,
âĶÂ Administration of grants,
âĶÂ Administrative of EPWP programme
âĶÂ Mobilizing of funds for capital projects
âĶÂ Preparation of business plans of capital projects
2.ENGINEERING SERVICES UNIT (OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE)
âĶÂ Roads and Stormwater Maintenance (rural & urban)
âĶÂ Maintain municipal buildings
âĶÂ Maintenance of machinery and equipment services
